Please join the Columbia Labor Lab, Columbia Center for Political Economy, and CLS Workers' Rights Student Coalition for a lunchtime talk "The Future of Labor Law and the NLRB: A Conversation with Former General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo."

Jennifer Abruzzo is a distinguished attorney and labor rights advocate who served as General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from 2021 to 2025. Appointed by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate, Abruzzo was instrumental in broadening worker protections, strengthening the enforcement capacity of the NLRB, and championing policies that empowered employees in the workplace.

Prior to her tenure as General Counsel, Abruzzo dedicated over two decades to the NLRB, holding key positions such as Deputy General Counsel and Acting General Counsel. She later served as Special Counsel for Strategic Initiatives at the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the largest media and communications union in the United States. Her career has been defined by a deep commitment to labor rights, advocating for immigrant workers, student-athletes, and employees participating in social justice movements.

A native of Queens, New York, Abruzzo has been a trailblazer in labor law, spearheading initiatives against captive audience meetings and non-compete clauses. Her leadership at the NLRB played a pivotal role in major organizing efforts, including the successful Amazon Labor Union drive in Staten Island.

With a wealth of experience in labor policy, union advocacy, and government leadership, Jennifer Abruzzo continues to be a leading voice in the fight for worker rights and fair labor practices.

Lunch will be provided to registered guests.
