Columbia Law School Class Day
The Law School Class Day ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 18th, on the South Lawn, in front of Butler Library, here on our Morningside Heights campus. University gates will open for the Law School at 3:15 pm. Our ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4:15 pm and end at 6:30 pm. At this ceremony, eligible students—those who are degree candidates for February, May, June 2025, and October 2024 graduates—will be included in the May 2025 Class Day graduation program.
Each J.D., LL.M., J.S.D., and E.LL.M. graduate's name is read as you process across the stage in your graduation regalia, celebrated by your faculty, administration, classmates, family, and friends. This ceremony is exclusively for the Law School community and our guests.
For those graduating in October 2025 or February 2026, you are warmly invited to walk across the stage during the ceremony. While your preferred name will be announced at the event, please be aware that it will not appear in the May 2025 graduation program.
Commencement season is a time to celebrate our students' accomplishments. To honor our students and guests, audience disruptions and interruption of speakers are not permitted. All participants and guests attending Commencement season events understand and agree to follow the responsibilities outlined in University policies, including the Rules of University Conduct, Anti-Discrimination and Discriminatory Harassment Policy, and Standards and Discipline. Those found in violation will be asked to discontinue and may be asked to leave the venue.
