Section Description

The is the basic course dealing with the legal framework of inter-generational wealth transfer in the United States. We cover the law governing gifts, wills, will substitutes (nonprobate transfers), and intestate succession, with some attention to the broader social and economic issues involved. The course also deals with trusts as a mechanism of wealth management, mostly in the context of estate planning, but also in charitable and business contexts. The basics of gift and estate taxation will be woven into the discussions and given some separate attention.
