Arthur Kaufman

Arthur S. Kaufman is of counsel at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.  

He joined Fried Frank as a partner in 1985 and founded the firm’s Financing Group Practice, which he headed until he retired as a partner in 2010. Kaufman has represented Fortune 500 companies, other public and private issuers, and major financial institutions in connection with a wide variety of financing transactions. He has been instrumental in financings for acquisitions and leveraged buyouts, and the development of innovative financing structures for insurance sidecars and other insurance vehicles.  He has been consistently recognized by Chambers USA as a leading individual in banking and finance and by Legal 500 in finance.

Kaufman is a member of the American Bar Association’s developments in business financing subcommittee of the section of business law and a past trustee of the American College of Investment Counsel. He has spoken before these and other professional and industry groups.

Kaufman received his J.D. in 1971 from Columbia Law School and his A.B. in 1968 from Columbia College.
